Surcharge Pricing Merchant Processing
Surcharge Pricing is a billing method that allows a business to pass the credit card processing fee directly to the customer only when they choose to pay with a credit card.
This lowers or eliminates the dealership’s cost to accept credit cards without raising prices across the board.
How it Works
- When a customer pays with a credit card, an extra fee (usually around 3–4%) is added to cover the processing cost.
- When a customer pays with debit, cash, or ACH, no surcharge is applied.
- This ensures transparency and gives customers a choice while dramatically reducing the dealership’s merchant fees.
